FUEL LINE
Remove the luggage lower box (page 3-16).
Check the fuel feed hose for deterioration, damage
or leakage.
Replace it if necessary.
Also, check the fuel feed hose fittings for leakage.
Install the luggage lower box (page 3-16).
THROTTLE OPERATION
Check the throttle cables and replace them if they
are deteriorated, kinked or damaged.
Check for smooth operation of the throttle and that
it returns automatically to the fully closed position
from any open position and from any steering posi-
tion.
If the throttle grip does not return properly, lubricate
the throttle cable and overhaul and lubricate the
throttle grip housing (page 15-8).
For cable lubrication: Disconnect the throttle cable
at its upper end. Thoroughly lubricate the cable and
its pivot point with a commercially available cable
lubricant or a lightweight oil.
If the throttle grip still does not return properly,
replace the throttle cable.
With the engine idling, turn the handlebar all the
way to the right and left to ensure that the idle
speed does not change. If idle speed increases,
check the throttle grip freeplay and throttle cable
connection.
Measure the throttle grip freeplay at the throttle grip
flange.

proper throttle
operation and may
lead to a loss of
throttle control
while riding.
FREEPLAY: 2 – 6 mm (1/16 – 1/4 in)
2 – 6 mm (1/16 – 1/4 in)
