CAMSHAFT
Turn the outer race of the camshaft bearing with
your finger.
The bearing should turn smoothly and quietly.
Also check that the bearing inner race fits tightly on
the camshaft.
Replace the camshaft assembly if the outer race
does not turn smoothly, quietly, or if the inner race
fits loosely on the camshaft.
Check the camshaft journal for wear or damage.
Check each cam lobe for wear or damage.
Replace the camshaft assembly if necessary.
Check the cam lobes for scoring, scratches or evi-
dence of insufficient lubrication.
Measure each cam lobe height using a micrometer.
Check the camshaft journals of the cylinder head for
wear or damage.
