ROCKER ARM/SHAFT
Check the cam
lobes of the
camshaft if the
sliding surface of
the rocker arm is
worn or damaged.
Check the rocker arm, rocker arm shaft sliding sur-
faces for wear or damage.
Check the contacting surface of the rocker arms and
shims for wear or damage.
Measure the I.D. of each rocker arm and record it.
Measure the O.D. of each shaft at the rocker arm.
Subtract each rocker arm shaft O.D. from the corre-
sponding rocker arm I.D. to obtain the arm-to-shaft
clearance.
SIDE SPRING
Measure the free length of the side spring.
CYLINDER HEAD REMOVAL
If the O
2
sensor cap is disconnected, replace the O
2
sensor cord with a new one.
Drain the coolant from the system (page 7-7).
Remove the following:
– Exhaust pipe/muffler (page 3-32)
– ECT sensor 3P (Gray) connector (page 6-92)
– Cam sprocket (page 9-8)
When disassembling the cylinder head, remove the
camshaft/rocker arm (page 9-8).
Disconnect the O
2
sensor 1P (Black) connector.
Release the O
2
sensor cord from the clamp.
SERVICE LIMIT: IN: 13.10 mm (0.516 in)
SERVICE LIMIT: EX: 12.91 mm (0.508 in)
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.08 mm (0.003 in)
