CYLINDER HEAD/VALVES
Compress the valve spring and install the valve cotters.
TOOL:
Valve spring compressor: 070-GE-001-I100
Tap the stems gently with two plastic hammer to firmly
seat the cotters.
CYLINDER HEAD INSTALLATION
Install the dowel pins and new gasket.
Route the cam chain through the cylinder head, and place
the cylinder head onto the cylinder.
Support the
cylinder head
above the work
bench surface
to prevent valve
damage.
Grease the
cotters to ease
installation. To
prevent loss of
tension, do not
compress the
valve spring
more than
necessary.
Do not allow
dust and dirt
to enter the
engine.
If required
replace the old
intake manifold
O-ring with a
new one.
COTTERS
GASKET
DOWEL PINS
Install the stud bolts (4 nos.)in the cylinder head and tighten
to the specified torque.
TORQUE: 9 N·m (0.9 kgf·m, 6.6 lbf·ft)
Install and tighten the nuts (4 nos.) on the stud bolts to the
specified torque.
TORQUE: 30 N·m (3.0 kgf·m, 22 lbf·ft)
Install & tighten the flange bolts (2 nos.) to the specified
torque.
TORQUE: 12 N·m (1.2 kgf·m, 9 lbf·ft)

Dip the stud nuts & washer in the clean engine oil.
