7.3 Gateway (optional)
68
Pin assignment:
The CAN interface is electrically isolated from the ERS device.
Notice: The housing must be connected to the cable shield!
Gateway (optional)
The device can optionally be equipped with an AnyBus™ protocol converter (-A29). This allows an
easy integration of the ERS to an already existing process control system with one of the following
network/bus protocols:
EtherCAT
Ethernet/IP
Profibus
Profinet
Please note that compared to direct communication via the CAN interface, the use of a protocol con-
verter reduces the transmission rate by up to a factor of 5.
Status LEDs on the front of the gateway show the status of the connected network and the status
of the connection to the fieldbus of the ERS-system and the gateway. For further information, please
visit the support website of the manufacturer at:
https://www.anybus.com/support/file-doc-downloads/anybus-communicator-can.
Updating the Firmware
Firmware updates are published on the manufacturer's support pages. The Firmware-Download-TP
tool is also available there, with which the updated firmware can be downloaded to the gateway.
Note: Save a copy of the configuration before downloading the new firmware, as the configuration of
the Communicator is deleted during the installation process of the new firmware.
After the firmware download has been completed, the configuration can be restored using the backup
copy
Configuration
N O T I C E
Before delivery of the ERS the Gateway is fully configured. Only change the configuration for the
superordinate network if necessary.
The configuration of the gateway is done with the configuration tool Anybus Configuration Manager
for Communicator CAN (ACM) of the manufacturer. The USB port on the bottom of the Communicator
is used to upload and download the configuration. Remove the used USB cable after the configuration
of the gateway is complete.
For Profibus, you can select the address of the ERS using two rotary switches on the front of the
gateway. Node address = (switch B x 10) + (switch A x 1)
Example: If the node address should be 42, set switch A to '2' and switch B to '4'.
