Data Collection Options During Playback
During data collection there are numerous options available for data display. There are 6 buttons at the
bottom of the screen: Focus, Gain, Zoom, H Cursor, Dielectric, and Output. When the first five buttons
are used in tandem with the Output Menu you have many options for customizing the appearance of data,
determining the dielectric using a hyperbola in your data, changing gain levels, and zooming in or out to
expand or condense the horizontal scale. Details for these options are listed below.
Focus:
This option performs a real-time migration of the data by collapsing hyperbolas. This can help
when trying to pinpoint a specific target during data collection.
Gain:
Use this option to change the overall Gain during data collection. This is useful when crossing over
areas with different subsurface conditions, or the Gain levels are too low or high along a given line. In the
examples below, overgained data (left) are difficult to interpret because targets are obscured by high
background amplitudes. In this case, reducing the Gains can greatly improve the visibility of targets
against the background (right).
