Radar Menu: 300/800DF (Dual Frequency Antenna)
1
Collect Mode:
Set to Distance.
2
Scan Density:
Chose a Scan Density to set
the number of scans collected per unit
distance. This will adjust the number of
scans collected over the distance traveled.
The menu provides three Scan Densities:
High, Normal, and Low. The higher the
Scan Density the better chance you have of
identifying small cables or distinguishing
between two targets that are close together.
•
High: 100 scans/m (30.5 scans/ft)
•
Normal: 50 scans/m (15.25 scans/ft)
•
Low: 25 scans/m (7.6 scans/ft)
3
Dielectric/Soil Type:
Choose a Dielectric
Constant or Soil Type that best represents
your survey area (See Appendix D:
Dielectric Values for Common Materials)
4
Depth Range:
There are five depth ranges
for the DF antenna. These are 0.5m/1.0m,
1m/2m, and 1m/3m, 2.0m/4.0m, and
3.0m/5.0m. These represent the depth range
for each of the dual frequencies. For
example, selecting a depth range of 2.0m/4.0m means that the high frequency depth range is 2.0m,
and the low frequency depth range is 4.0m. Note that in Wiggle Mode as you change the depth range
you will see the depths change for each frequency’s O-Scope. Also note that the depth range of the
low frequency will set the maximum depth of the Blend O-Scope.
5
LineTrac
:
Set LineTrac On or Off. There are two settings that can be adjusted when LineTrac is
turned On: Power Mode and Frequency Mode.
Note:
If you recall a setup after configuring the GPS, the SIR 4000 will recall a baud rate
of 4800. If this does not match your previously selected Baud Rate, return to the Introduction
Screen and reset your Baud Rate in the GPS Configuration window.
Note:
When adjusting time/depth range in Digital 2D mode, the following procedure is
recommended. Before changing the dielectric or depth range, press the red Stop button to
suspend communications with the antenna. Next, change dielectric or depth range. Finally,
exit the Radar menu, and then press the Init button.
