platen a nd the text you are trying to print out will have to be
r e print e d from that point . Most word processors have an option t o
allow y ou to work with single sheets of paper .
Som e computer systems, however, ignore the <ESC> code a nd t he
DIP s witch s etting. If <ESC> S or the DIP switch setting doe s n ot
sol ve thi s p r oblem for you, see Appendix F for other solution s.
Skip Over Perforation
If yo u ar e using continuous pin-feed paper for printing prog ram
li s ting s or other material not controlled by an applications pro gram,
yo u m ay f i nd that the LX-SOprints right over the perforation s be-
tw ee n p a g es. The LX-SOhas an <ESC> code to prevent this : the
< ES C> N c ommand. You send <ESC> N followed by the num ber
o f lin es yo u want the LX-SO to skip at the bottom of a p a g e. For
exa mp l e , in BASIC the following line will make the LX-SOsk ip six
lin es af te r ea ch 60 lines:
Sinc e a standard page is 66 lines, this will give you one inch o f bl ank
sp a c e a t th e bottom of each page. If you prefer to have half o f t h e
blank sp a c e at the top of the page and half at the bottom, simpl y se t
th e top o f page approximately three lines (1 / 2 inch) below th e per -
forati o n as described above.
Margins
The LX- S Oallows you to set the left and right margins with s i mple
< ESC > s equences. The left margin command is <ESC>

If t h e w o rd processing program does not allow you to chang e the
m a r g in s, y ou can send margin commands to the LX-SOin BASI C or
anoth e r programming language before you print your docum ents.
F o r e x a mpl e, if you prefer wider margins than your word proc essing
progr a m a llows, run the following BASIC program before print ing.
Thi s pr o gr a m gives you a left margin of 10 and a right margin of 60,
but you c a n use any numbers you prefer for the margin comm a n ds.
