B e cau s e th e NLQ mode uses two passes for each line and p rints
o n ly i n o n e direction , printing does take longer in this mod e.
With t h e t w o modes , draft or NLQ , the LX-SOgives you th e ability
t o c h oose high speed or high quality respectively each tim e you
p ri nt . Yo u ca n print ordinary work or preliminary drafts qui ckly in
t h e draf t m o de and use the NLQ mode for final copies or s p ecial
p ur poses.
SelecTy p e m a ke s it especially easy to change from draft t o NLQ ,
but yo u can a lso select and cancel the NLQ mode with a software
comma n d o r with a special switch in the back of the print e r . Use of
the software command is explained in Chapter 5 and the op eration
of the switc h (called a
DIP
switch) in Appendix D.
