TROUBLESHOOTING
Before asking for repairs, conduct your own inspection first. If you find a problem that is not explained in the manual,
do not attempt to dismantle the machine. Instead, ask Dolmar/Makita Authorized Service Centers, always using
Dolmar/Makita replacement parts for repairs.
State of abnormality

Engine does not start.
Failure to operate primer pump
Push 7 to 10 times.
Pulling starter rope too slowly
Pull the starter rope firmly.
Lack of fuel
Add fuel.
Clogged fuel filter
Unclog and clean the fuel filter.
Bent fuel tube
Straighten fuel tube.
Deteriorated fuel
Replace with new fuel.
Excessive suction of fuel
Remove the spark plug and dry the electrode.
Detached plug cap
Attach the plug cap securely.
Contaminated spark plug
Clean the spark plug.
Abnormal clearance of spark plug
Adjust the clearance.
Other abnormality of spark plug
Replace with a new one.
Abnormal carburetor
Contact an authorized service center for repairs.
Starter rope cannot be pulled
Contact an authorized service center for repairs.
Abnormal drive system
Contact an authorized service center for repairs.
Engine stops soon after starting.
Engine speed does not increase.
Insufficient warm-up
Provide enough time to warm up.
Choke lever is in the closed position
although the engine is warmed up.
Set the choke lever to the open position.
Clogged fuel filter
Clean or replace the fuel filter.
Contaminated or clogged air cleaner
Clean the air cleaner.
Abnormal carburetor
Contact an authorized service center for repairs.
Abnormal drive system
Contact an authorized service center for repairs.
Cutting tool does not rotate.
Stop engine immediately.
Cutting tool is loosely attached.
Tighten the cutting tool securely.
Cutting tool caught on foreign matter.
Remove foreign matter.
Abnormal drive system
Contact an authorized service center for repairs.
Main unit vibrates abnormally.
Stop engine immediately.
Broken, bent or worn cutting tool
Replace the cutting tool.
Cutting tool is loosely attached.
Tighten the cutting tool securely.
Cutting tool is incorrectly attached.
Attach the cutting tool properly.
Abnormal drive system
Contact an authorized service center for repairs.
Cutter blade does not stop imme-
diately.
Stop engine immediately.
Idling speed is too high.
Adjust the idling speed.
Detached throttle wire
Attach the throttle wire securely.
Abnormal drive system
Contact an authorized service center for repairs.
Engine does not stop.
Run engine at idle and set the
choke lever to the closed position.
Stop button malfunction
Contact an authorized service center for repairs.
