Each installed I/O module communicates with a CPU via an expansion bus. The
AMDT I/O module provides the fastest sampling and transfer rates. Specific con-
ditions need to be taken into account when planning a system.
Rules for hardware setup

One AMDT I/O module can be installed in any one slot. Full function is avail-
able. When setting parameters, take into account the maximum transfer rate
of 10000 measurement values/s.

Two AMDT I/O modules can be installed in any of the available slots. Ensure
adequate ventilation when both AMDT I/O modules are installed in the base
device. Full function no longer available. Both AMDT modules can con-
tinuously transmit characteristic values, but only one AMDT can continuously
transmit time signals or frequency spectra.

Two synchronised AMDT I/O modules can be installed in any of the available
slots. Synchronization requires additional wiring and occupies digital-
input/output 4. Ensure adequate ventilation when both AMDT I/O modules
are installed in the base device. Synchronization is available only in the
"batch recoding" operating mode. Both AMDT modules can transfer time sig-
nals, frequency spectra and characteristic values continuously and syn-

Rules concerning the number of useable analogue inputs
l
Using a digital high- or band-pass filter limits the number of analogue filters
(depending on board version) to 1 ... 4. An overview is available in the sec-

Using a digital integrator limits analogue inputs (depending on board ver-
sion) to 1 ... 4. An overview is available in the section on
