APM enhancements:
Low Battery warning.
CBE provides low battery warnings to the user. It displays a
message “Change battery” in a window on-screen for 2 seconds
when the battery reaches a pre-determined threshold. After
displaying the message and sounding a warning tone, the Apex PDT
is placed in a Suspend state with the current program state and
memory preserved for a limited period of time. Sufficient charge is
available to maintain the internal memory for a few minutes. Only
the memory is preserved, other internal I/O systems are shut down,
and the CPU is placed in a Suspend state as well.
The battery should be changed as soon as possible after receiving
this warning to prevent program or data loss
.
Note:
If the battery is allowed to get too low, the Apex PDT will
enter a “Critical Suspend” state suddenly and without
warning. This normally would only occur after the low
battery warning above is repeatedly ignored. The Apex
PDT will not turn back on once in this state until a fully
charged battery is installed. This is designed to minimize
the chance of data loss. After replacing the battery, utilize
the red <POWER> button to turn the Apex PDT back on.
The unit will resume operations where it left off. The
principal difference between the “Suspend” and “Critical
Suspend” states is that the user is prevented from turning
the unit back on in the “Critical” state until a fully charged
Battery Pack has been installed. It is important to install a
fully charged Battery pack AS SOON AS POSSIBLE in
this state as Battery Pack reserves will be low!
After exchanging the battery for a fresh or fully charged one, the
unit is turned back on by pressing the red power button. The Apex
will resume where it left off.
The low battery warning is only available if the
[power.exe]
APM
driver is loaded before
[cbe.exe]
.
