Messages
The ūmi TV feature and the section of the ūmi Connect website that contains messages sent to you—
both video messages left when someone called you but you were unavailable, and videos sent directly
from another member. This is different from My videos, which contains videos you record. See
Messages and the Check your messages section of the ūmi Connect website chapter.
My videos
The ūmi TV feature and the section of the ūmi Connect website that contains videos you recorded. This
is different from Messages, which contains videos and messages sent to you. See

nickname
The name you enter for a contact that appears when you display the contact’s entry. This can be the
same as or different from the contact’s actual name. You enter a nickname when you create or edit a
contact. See

profile photo
The photo other ūmi members see when you call them or when they look up your contact. You can take
a profile photo during initial TV setup, and can retake the photo at any time. See

self-view
A small window on your TV screen that lets you see how you appear to the person you are on a ūmi call
with, so you can move around or adjust the camera as needed. If you want more of the screen available
to see the other caller, you can hide the self-view window. See

set top box
The component of your home entertainment system that connects your TV service (such as your cable)
to your TV. See

system lock
A privacy setting you can turn on that requires a person to enter a four-digit code to use ūmi. See Turn

ūmi Connect
The website where you sign up for a ūmi account, and where you can check ūmi messages, manage
contacts, record and share videos, and more when you are away from your TV. The address for the ūmi
Connect website is www.umiconnect.com. See

ūmi number
The number other ūmi members use to call you. You receive your home ūmi number when you create a
ūmi account on the ūmi Connect website.
video chat account
An account with an online video chat service such as Google video chat. If you have a Google video
chat account, you can make ūmi calls to your Google video chat contacts. The other person
communicates with you through a webcam. See
