There can be up to two 601 video channels in the iNFiNiT!. A
601 video board can be placed in the J13 (Channel 1) and/or J14
(Channel 2) slot(s) of the iNFiNiT!.
When used in either slot (Jl3 or J14) a 601 video board allows
you to output digital video from the iNFiNiT! in CCIR-601
(SMPTE RP-125) format.
When used in slot J13, a 601 video board has the added capabil-
ity to decode an incoming digital video signal for digital gen-
lock and/or video capture.
The 601 board takes the iNFiNiT!’s internal digital RGB from
the backplane, converts it to a
YCrCb format, then passes it
through a digital filter. The digital key signal from the
iNFiNiT!, if present, is converted to a Y-only (luminance) for-
mat and changed into ECL levels.
The
YCrCb
data is multiplexed with sync information from the
iNFiNiT! sync generator, then converted to ECL levels as well.
This data can be either 8-bit or 10-bit. In the 10-bit mode, the
data is simply rounded to 10 bits. In the 8-bit mode, a more
complex coding algorithm is used to compensate for the smaller
word size.

All initial adjustments are made at the factory before shipping;
typically no additional adjustment is necessary.
Six 16-position rotary switches on the front panel of the 601
board(s) are used to calibrate the hardware, and an LED indica-
tor is used for video signal detection.
