EEFB’s, whenever a Special Roll is
specified in a Roll Control Buffer list,
the Special Roll is automatically
executed using only one EEFB. In a
multi-buffer system, this leaves an
extra available buffer.
An increased active area for Crawl
has been added (1000 scanlines
NTSC or PAL-M; 900 scanlines PAL).

A system that has been upgraded with an EEFB board(s)
senses its presence, and installs the additional features
upon booting up. The following features automatically
appear in the Read Effects main menu.
EEFB Foreground/Background Buffers: Each EEFB
board can be thought of as two independent Message
Compose frame buffers called Foreground and Back-
ground. Text and/or Graphics placed in the Foreground
is displayed on top of text and/or graphics in the Back-
ground.
Either buffer can be designated as “active”. A Read
Effects is executed, the previously inactive buffer
becomes the active buffer.
Note that an RGB(A) graphic cannot be recorded from
the Foreground buffer unless it has been converted into a
Machine Font character.

You may also record the
graphic from the Foreground buffer as an RGB(A) mes-
sage in RGB Tools or an Image Tools message in Image
Tools.
Output Percentage Level:
The Output Percentage lev-
els (§15.8.3) of the Foreground and Background buffers
may be independently set.
