appears on the Prompt Line when
the selected files have been copied to the ZIP disk.
Two other files must also be copied to the ZIP disk from the
C/
SYSTEM/DRIVERS directory: VIDEO.DEF and
SYNC.DEF
:
[ ] 1. In the fields at the top of the Disk Utilities COPY
menu, enter the following information:
FROM: C/SYSTEM
TO: B/
FILE TYPE: DRIVERS
CONFIRM: Y
VERIFY: Y
COPY NAMES:
(see Step 3)
[ ] 2. Press CNTL L or select List to list the files in the
C/SYSTEM/ETC directory.
[ ] 3. Place the cursor on a file that must be copied, then
press
; or click on the file name. An arrow
appears to the left of the file name and
SELECTED NAMES
appears in the
COPY
NAMES: field. Repeat this step for each of the
files that are to be copied.
[ ] 4. Press CNTL X or select Execute . If a pop-up
window appears asking for overwrite permission,
press
Y to overwrite the file, or any other key to stop
the overwrite. Copy execution will move to the next
file. See Figure 2-31 for an example. To completely
exit
Copy execution, press ESC .
Copy complete. appears on the Prompt Line
when the selected files have been copied to the ZIP
disk.
You have now copied your system configuration files to the ZIP
disk so that it operates like the hard disk in your system. This
allows the system to be booted off the ZIP drive and tested,
without disturbing the files on the hard drive.
If the software is operating properly, you can back up the hard
drive, delete the system files from the hard drive, then copy the
contents of the ZIP disk to the hard drive as described in the
next three sections. Note that is not necessary to back up the
hard drive or delete the system files. Backing up the hard drive
is always good practice. Deleting system files cleans out the
old files.
