Use Verify when disk damage is suspected (for example,
if you get an error prompt indicating a file cannot be read
or written, or the system was shut down while a file was
in use). The verifier searches for faults in the file struc-
ture, and attempts to repair any faults detected.
To start the verification process:
• Press V or select Verify to display the Disk Verify
window (Figure 19-23).
If you know the location of any bad blocks, enter them in
the
BAD BLOCK LIST . Bad Block numbers are reported
by the Operating System when an unrecoverable error is
detected during a disk read or write operation.
To verify the disk:
[ ] 1. Enter the drive you want to verify in the
DEVICE:

, etc.).
If you know of bad blocks, press
TAB
to enter the
BAD
BLOCKS LIST . Enter all known bad blocks in the list,
pressing between each number to enter it in the list.
Press SHIFT + TAB to leave the list.
[ ] 2. Press
CNTL X
or select
Execute
to start the
verification process.
