refrigerant oil and assem ble on to O -R ing Installer J -2 1508
(see Figure ID -96).
2. Insert the O -R ing Installer J -2 1508
completely
down
into the com pressor neck until the Installer
"bottoms". Lower the m oveable slide o f the O-Ring
Installer to release the O -R ing into the seal seat O-ring

6.
Install the new seal seat retainer ring
with its flat
side against the Seal Seat,
using Snap-R ing Pliers J-5403

3. C oat the O -R ing and seal face o f the new Seal
assem bly w ith clean 525 viscosity refrigerant oil. Carefully
m ount the Seal assem bly to Seal Installer J-9392 by engaging
the tabs o f the seal with the tangs o f the Installer (Figure

7. For Leak Test, pressurize S U C T IO N S ID E (low-
pressure side) o f com pressor on vehicle with R efrigerant-12
vapor to equalize pressure to the drum
pressure.
Tem porarily install the shaft nut and, with com pressor in
horizontal position, rotate the com pressor shaft in normal
direction o f rotation several tim es by hand. Leak test the
Seal.
Correct any
leak found. R em ove, discard and later replace the shaft nut.
