1. W ith transm ission in cradle on portable jack, rem ove
converter assem bly by pulling straight out. Converter
contains a large am ount o f oil.
2. Install holding Fixture J-8763-01 on transm ission so
that m odulator assem bly w ill be located on side o f holding
fixture nearest bench (Fig 7A -2C ). D o not over-torque
holding screw. T h is will bind center support.
3. Install fixture and transm ission into holding T ool
Base J-3289-14 w ith bottom pan facing up (Fig. 7A -2C ).

4. R em ove m odulator assem bly attaching screw and
retainer (Fig. 7A -3C ).
5. R em ove vacuum m odulator assem bly and "O" ring
seal from case (Fig. 7A -4C ). D iscard "O" ring.
6. R em ove m odulator valve from transm ission case
(Fig. 7A -4C ).
Removal of Governor,
Speedometer Driven Gear,
Pan, Filter and Intake Pipe
1. R em ove attaching screws, governor cover and gasket
(Fig. 7A -5C ). D iscard gasket.
2. W ithdraw governor assem bly from case.
