a. Place large race against internal gear with outer
flange facing forward or up (Fig. 7A -153C ).
b. Place thrust bearing against race.
c. Place sm all race against bearing with inner flange
facing into bearing or down.
4. Install output carrier over m ainshaft so that pinions
m esh with rear internal gear.
5. Place above portion o f "build-up" through hole in
bench so that m ainshaft hangs downward.
6. Install rear internal gear to output shaft thrust races
and bearings as follow s and retain with petrolatum (Fig.
7A -144C ).

a. Place sm all diam eter race against internal gear with
center flange facing up.
b. Place bearing on race.
c. Place second race on bearing with outer flange
cupped over bearing.
7. Install output shaft into output carrier assem bly
(Fig. 7A -145C ).
8. Install output shaft to output carrier snap ring.
9. Install "O" ring on output shaft o f m odels that use
an "O" ring.
M odels CB, C D , C F, C G and C H do not use an output
shaft "O" ring.
10. Turn assem bly over and support so that output
shaft hangs downward.
11. Install reaction carrier to output carrier m etal or
non-m etal thrust washer w ith tabs facing down in pockets
o f output carrier and retain w ith petrolatum . The
production built transm issions use a non-m etal washer here.
H ow ever, the service replacem ent w asher is m ade o f metal.
12. Install sun gear I.D . splines w ith cham fer down.
