MULTIPORT SPOOLER VIII (4-, 8-, and 12-Port Models)
/P
select a Port
Use this command to direct all subsequent transmissions (jobs) from
your input port to a selected output port. For example, if you have been
transmitting to Port 4 and then use this command to select Port 3, all
subsequent transmissions are sent to Port 3.
Format
@@/P
@
The name or number of the port or port group that the desired
peripheral is connected to. If a group name is used, any of the
peripherals attached to ports in that group may be selected.
Therefore, make sure it doesn’t matter which of the group’s
peripherals is selected.
Examples
@@/P4@
Sends subsequent jobs to the Multiport Spooler VIII’s Port 4.
@@/PModem@
Sends subsequent jobs to the MPS-VIII port called “Modem.”
@@/PPR*@
Sends subsequent jobs to the first available MPS-VIII port
whose name starts with the two characters “PR.”
Conditions
The specified port must be a bidirectional or output port.
If you send a task after issuing the
/P
command, but the peripheral is busy,
the task is buffered in the Multiport Spooler VIII. Once the desired
peripheral is free, tasks are transmitted to it.
NOTE
You can use wild-card characters to select the port or group.
/P*
sends a
task to the first available peripheral. (Keep in mind that a bidirectional
serial port is considered an available peripheral, even if it is connected to
a computer.) If
in
@@/P
@
is a group name, subsequent output will
automatically be directed to the first available port in that group.
