MULTIPORT SPOOLER VIII (4-, 8-, and 12-Port Models)
Here’s another example. Suppose you have a Multiport Spooler VIII with
three printers attached: a black-and-white laser printer on port 4, a dot-matrix
printer on port 7, and a color laser printer on port 8. If you can assign three
MPSDOS phantom ports to these MPS-VIII ports, you can send jobs to the
attached printers from inside your word-processing application:
• PC phantom port COM4 can represent MPS-VIII port 4 (the B&W laser).
• PC phantom port COM7 can represent MPS-VIII port 7 (the dot-matrix).
• PC phantom port COM8 can represent MPS-VIII port 8 (the color laser).
