8.5 Operation-Time MPSDOS Errors: The CHKERR Program
The CHKERR program enables you to determine the nature of a particular
problem. When an error is detected, two or seven consecutive beeps will
sound; when this occurs, execute the program from the DOS prompt.
Two
beeps indicates that the port is busy or not ready.
Seven
beeps indicates that
the message was not received from the Multiport Spooler VIII or an error was
detected.
The CHKERR Program can be executed in the following ways:

CHKERR
Will show the error message. The possible messages are:
No error
No error to indicate.
String cannot be transmitted
The chosen port is occupied or not ready.
No confirmation received
Returned messages not received or an error was detected.
MPSDOS is not installed
MPSDOS is not installed.
Error # x unidentified
Nature of error # x unknown.
Invalid parameters
String command parameter invalid.

Will show the MPSDOS configuration, as well as an error message
if necessary.

CHKERR/R
Will show all port redirections.
•
CHKERR/S
Will show the contents of each character string.
