To complete the MPSDOS installation, you need to select the proper output
(printer) ports for your application software. To do so, take these steps:
1. Run your application software.
2. Select the option in the software that allows you to change the output
port.
3. Select from the list of available ports (COM1 through COM9 and LPT1
through LPT3), keeping in mind the port redirection you performed
earlier (see
Section 5.3.6
).
4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for all your application programs.
Your DOS applications will now print with the new parameters.
5.4 Changing MPSDOS Settings
With MPSDOS’s configuration program, you can change parameters set
during installation. To load the configuration program, type CONFDOS
at the DOS prompt, then press Enter.
With the CONFDOS program, you have the following options:
PC Port Parameters
Modify the port parameters of the PC port
linked to the Multiport Spooler VIII. The PC
Port Parameters screen appears (see
Section 5.3.2
).
Assign Port
Redirect any of the 11 phantom ports. The Port
Redirection screen appears (see
Section 5.3.6
).
Define String
Define a “before” and “after” string for any port.
The String Definition screen appears (see
Section 5.3.7
).
UCTP
Specify whether or not the UCTP program
should be loaded automatically. The UCTP
Residence screen appears (see
Section 5.3.5
).
Command Validation
Specify whether or not returned messages are
verified. The Message-Return Verification screen
appears (see
Section 5.3.9
).
