For some of these commands the Parameter window is displayed after you
press Enter. In this window you enter the specifics of your request. For more
information about some of these commands, refer to
Chapter 4
, which
explains these commands in the context of default settings for each port.
Appendix D
lists these commands in exact DOS direct-command format
and provides additional information about them.
Commands marked with a single asterisk (“
*
”) appear only in the Advanced
menu. Those marked with a double asterisk (“
**
”) appear only in the Default
menu.
Select an Output Port*
Use this command to select an output port. Enter the number (or name, if
you have defined one with the configuration program) of the port you want
as your new output port in the Parameter window. Subsequent jobs will be
sent to this peripheral until you change the connection again. Note that
other users can also use this port/peripheral; if you want exclusive access
to a peripheral, you must use either the
Reserve a Peripheral
or
Permanent
Bidirectional Link
command. Refer to the entries in this section for these
commands, or to the entry for the
/P
command in
Appendix D
.
Use First Printer**

Use Second Printer**

Use Third Printer**
Use these commands to select a printer/peripheral. First Printer refers to the
printer connected to output port #4; Second Printer refers to output port #8;
and Third Printer refers to output port #12. Refer to the entry for the
/P
command in
Appendix D
.
Reserve a Peripheral*
Use this command to reserve a peripheral (output port), so that only you
(your input port) will have access to it. Enter the name or number of the
output port to which the peripheral is attached in the Parameter window. The
peripheral will be reserved until you cancel the reservation. You can have only
one peripheral reserved at a time. (This command is sometimes also referred
to as
Establish Unidirectional Link
.) Refer to the entry for the
/L

. Cancel a peripheral reservation with the
Cancel Link
command.
