APPENDIX C: Software Files and Utilities
C.2.3 UCTPNRES.BAT
AND
UCTPRES.BAT
These files contain information about the nonresident and resident UCTP
respectively. You can change these files with the commands and parameters
listed in this section.
Filename
At the DOS prompt, type one of the following: UCTPCGA, UCTPEGA,
UCTPVGA or UCTPHER (the last three letters depend on your graphics
card). After that command and on the same DOS line, you can specify any
of the parameters described in the rest of this section. (If the UCTP file is
not on your hard disk, copy the file you need from the appropriate Multiport
Spooler VIII diskette.)
NOTE
You can enter the parameters in any order after the initial
UCTP***
command. They must be separated by at least one space. Upper- and
lowercase characters are treated identically. If you repeat a parameter,
only its first occurrence is used. Incorrect parameters are ignored and
the default values are used. If you want to change only some parameters,
omit mentioning those parameters that should remain at their default
values.
PC Output Port
The valid port names are LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, COM1, COM2, COM3, and
COM4. If you select a serial port, you can include sub-parameters to set the
data rate, parity, data bits, and stop bits. To make these parameters remain
active on the PC output port after you exit the UCTP program, append an
S
.
For example:
UCTPVGA COM1:96,N,8,1,S
Loading as a TSR
Enter RES to load the nonresident program as resident. The UCTP will be
available through the chosen hotkey combination for the rest of the session. If
you do not choose a hotkey combination in this command line (see the entry
for
Hotkey Selection
on the next page), the default hotkey (Left Shift + Right
Shift) will be assumed.
