Spray bar fails to
complete
commanded
motion (bar raise,
bar shift, or wing
lift).
1. Blockage in solenoid
operated hydraulic
valve.
2. Lack of signal from
control panel
1. Actuate the valve manually
by pressing the plunger at
each end of the valve with a
small screwdriver.
2. Check switches and wiring
for continuity. Replace as
needed.
One set of spray
nozzle valves does
not operate.
1. Malfunction in solenoid
operated air valve.
1. Replace with new solenoid
operated air valve.
Burner does not
start.
1. Check that switch is
turned on.
2. Check that the truck
brake is set.
3. Motor is locked up.
1. Turn switch on.
2. Pull the yellow button.
Check pressure switch in
brake safety valve. Replace
if needed.
3. Replace motor.
Blower turns but
burner does not
ignite.
1. No smoke from stack.
2. No oil flow at nozzle.
3. System appears to be
air bound.
4. Blows white smoke.
1. Check flue level. Check
coupling in burner, replace if
necessary.
2. Clean clogged screen in the
nozzle or replace nozzle.
3. Check for and insert bypass
plug in return port on fuel
pump.
4. Check for proper voltage at
coil. Replace if necessary.
Check condition of
electrodes and gap settings.
Burner ignites but
exhaust is black.
1. Smoke from the stack is
black.
2. Flame seems to be
backing up into burner.
1. Remove burner and check
for soot build up. Remove
any build up that is found.
2. Make sure the stack lid is
open.
3. Check fuel pressure. The
fuel pressure should be 150
psi.
Dual burner
failure.
1. Second burner will not
operate.
1. Lower burner must be
operating in order for the
upper burner to operate.
2. If upper burner still fails to
operate, follow the
procedure for checking out a
single burner.
