Troubleshooting
SYMPTOM
POSSIBLE CAUSE
SOLUTION
Does not achieve
proper spread rate
1.
Clogged filter screens.
2.
Malfunction in
equalizer valve.
3.
Malfunction in asphalt
pump relief valve (the
valve opens at less than
correct pressure or
valve action is blocked
by obstruction).
4.
Excessive wear in
asphalt pump.
5.
Obstruction in tank
restricting flow of
asphalt through the
tank valve.
6.
Recirculate valve (F)
leaking.
7.
Spread / Circulate (K)
valve leaks.
1.
Clean both the suction and
bar filter screens per
instructions in the Field
Maintenance section of this
manual.
2.
Examine valve action to
verify that valve opens when
Master Switch is on, closes
when Master Switch is off.
Repair valve or actuator as
needed.
3.
Verify the valve action.
Repair or replace as needed.
4.
Inspect pump and replace
parts as needed.
5.
Clean tank to remove
obstruction.
6.
Be sure it is closed tight.
Replace as needed
7.
Clean seat. Check air
pressure, which should be
40-60 psi with the master
switch on.
Hydrostatic pump
develops
excessive noise.
1.
Hydraulic fluid level
excessively low.
2.
Hydraulic filters dirty or
plugged.
3.
Intake screen inside
tank dirty or clogged.
1.
Check hydraulic fluid level.
Refill as needed. Inspect
hydraulic hoses and fittings
for leaks or damage.
2.
Inspect filters and replace as
needed.
3.
Inspect the in-tank filter
screen and clean as needed
Asphalt does not
circulate through
the spray bar.
1.
Assure the master
switch is on.
2.
Malfunction in the
equalizer valve.
3.
Bar clogged with
hardened asphalt.
1.
Actuate the valve manually
by pressing the plunger at
each end of the valve with a
small screwdriver.
2.
Check switches and wiring
for continuity. Replace as
needed.
