2. General Precautions
2-1. DANGER
Death or serious injury, damage to equipment, or a fire will result if the instructions given below are
not followed.
Do not use or repair the unit where an explosive oxygen, nitrous oxide or a flammable
anesthetic gas is used.
2-2. WARNING
Death or serious injury due to a fire or an electric shock will result if the instructions given below
are not followed.
Do not operate or repair the unit with wet hands.
Connect the power cord of the unit to a power outlet including a ground terminal and meeting
the rated power requirements of the unit.
Be sure to disconnect the unit from the power source before handling the unit.
If a fingertip or a tool should touch a harness or a terminal in the unit, an electric shock
or a short circuit may result.
2-3. CAUTION
Injury or damage to ambient objects may result if the instructions given below are not followed.
Only qualified personnel authorized by Atom or a service representative properly trained in
the handling of the unit should inspect, repair, change the settings of, or disassemble and
assemble the unit.
Do not operate or repair the unit in electromagnetic environments where electrosurgical
knives or imaging devices such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) devices and
computerized tomography devices are used, or near a device equipped with an electromotor
that will consume a lot of electric currents.
The electronics of the unit may be affected by the radiation of various electromagnetic
waves in the hospital and may cause a malfunction of the unit.
Do not disinfect the unit by immersing it in a medical fluid. Avoid autoclaving or sterilization
with ethylene oxide gas (EOG).
Do not immerse the unit in water or a medical fluid.
If a portion of the water or the medical fluid should enter the unit, it may short an
electronic circuit inside.
After inspecting, repairing and disassembling and assembling, changing the settings of, or
disinfecting the unit, check that the unit operates normally.
