WARNING!
Ensure that the battery cables do not run over the control unit!
12.We recommend using the supplied cable protection conduit (13) for this in order to protect the cables
against sharp edges. Secure the protective conduit using cable clamps (23) and sheet screws (31).
13.Shorten the cables to an appropriate length and remove around 5 mm of insulation at the cable end.
Secure the cable lugs using a crimper. Two types of cable lugs (20 & 21) are supplied for this, which
you can use as required. The cables must be secured firmly.
14.Connect the battery cables to the control unit (9). To do this, screw the plug-in cable lugs to the corre-
sponding terminals on the control unit.
15.To conclude, connect the battery cables using the existing battery outlets (red = positive, black = nega-
tive).
CAUTION!
Ensure that you do not mix the positive (+) and negative (-) connections up. An incorrect con-
nection (reverse polarity) will damage the control unit!
16.Ensure that the 25 mm hole through the floor of the caravan is sealed so it is watertight when guiding
the cable through (e.g. with flexible putty).
17.To conclude, find a suitable point for the wall bracket for the remote control (7) and secure it using the
screws supplied (out of the reach of children or unauthorised persons).
18.The installation of the manoeuvring tool is now complete.
Installation - tandem
If you wish to use this system on a dual-axle trailer, please check the following data on your trailer first:
Permissible total weight of tandem (4 motors)
2500 kg (1800 kg at 18% slope)
4 motors:
The installation of a 4-motor manoeuvring system on a tandem trailer is comparable with that of a single-axle
trailer, but in this case there are two drive sets.
1. Now follow the installation instructions for the mechanical components twice - once for the manoeu-
vring tool in front of the tandem axle, and once for the manoeuvring tool behind the tandem axle.
2. Proceed in the same way for the electrical components: once for the manoeuvring tool in front of the
tandem axle and once for the manoeuvring tool behind the tandem axle.
ADVICE
If you have installed a 4-motor manoeuvring tool, you may require a battery with a higher perfor-
mance. Never use two individual batteries for a 4-motor manoeuvring tool.
3. The two control units must be set to tandem operation. to do this, first move the battery disconnec-
tion switch (28) to “OFF”, then move the Single axle / Tandem mode switch (Fig. 11 E/F) on the control
unit (9) to the Tandem position (Fig. 11F) so that the manoeuvring tool can be operated on a tandem
trailer. In tandem mode, all wheels are powered when turning, however at different speeds.
4. The two control units (9) must now be prepared for use with just one remote control (8). The remote
control must be synchronised with the control units as follows:
5. Check that assembly is in accordance with the instructions and ensure that the drive rollers are not
contacting. Check the correct connection, the state of the battery and whether a voltage of 12 V is
present at the control unit.
6. Ensure that the battery disconnection switch is set to “ON”.
