Multifeeds when using paper weight less than 177 g/m²
Humidity levels of 50 percent or higher
When using paper of weight less than 177 g/m², in humidity levels of 50 percent or
higher, multifeed problems can occur.
1. To resolve the multifeed, make the following blower adjustments:
• Air Knife Blower: No change.
• Rear Lead Blower: Decrease the blower speed by two settings. For example, if
the blower speed is set at
7
, to decrease the speed by two settings, change the
setting to
5
.
• Front Blower: Decrease the blower speed by two settings.
2. Run a test print. If no misfeed or multifeed occurs, the problem is resolved.
3. If a misfeed or multifeed occurs, for the Rear Lead Blower and Front Blower, do the
following:
• If a misfeed occurs, increase the blower speed by one setting.
• If a multifeed occurs, decrease the blower speed by two settings.
4. Run a test print. If no misfeed or multifeed occurs, the problem is resolved.
5. If a multifeed occurs again, do the following.
a. Make the following adjustments:
• Air Knife Blower: No change.
• Rear Lead Blower: Change the blower speed to the preset value, then
increase the speed by one setting.
• Front Blower: Change the blower speed to the preset value, then increase
the speed by one setting.
b. Run a test print. If no multifeed occurs, the problem is resolved.
c. If a multifeed occurs again, for the Rear Lead Blower and Front Blower, increase
the blower speed by one setting.
d. Run a test print. If no multifeed occurs, the problem is resolved.
e. If multifeeds continue, repeat steps 5c and 5d twice.
6. If multifeeds continue, do the following:
• Air Knife Blower: Decrease the blower speed by one setting.
Note:
For the Air Knife Blower, decrease the speed only if the current
setting is
High
or
Mid
.
• Rear Lead Blower: Change the blower speed to the preset value.
