Note: To avoid hot and cool spot problems, run your monitor for at
least an hour before using its display to make color critical
decisions.
Color calibration alone does not ensure output will match the
display. Many outside factors, such as the age of equipment and
environmental conditions can cause changes in your monitor’s
display. See chapter 7, “Imaging Basics,” for details on ink, media,
application, and other variables.
We suggest you calibrate your monitor monthly, if not more
frequently. Always calibrate when
• You first use your measuring device
• If you move your monitor
• If you change monitor settings (e.g. contrast), hardware
(e.g. monitor card), or software (e.g. QuarkXPress to
Photoshop)
Note: Calibration software should be installed before you begin the
calibration procedure. If it is not, install it now following the
software’s documentation.
The following monitor calibration procedure uses a Colortron in a
Macintosh environment as an example. If you use another measuring
device or are in a PC environment, check the device’s documentation
for the procedure.
