Using Novell NetWare Software
The optional Ethernet upgrade supports Novell protocol for the print
server feature for NetWare versions 3.x and higher. To use Novell
NetWare, you need to do the following:
• Understand Novell NetWare protocol software
• Have your Novell network administrator determine the print
server name, the login name, the password, and the Novell file
servers to be serviced
• Have your Novell network administrator setup the corresponding
file servers for the network version of NetWare
Novell NetWare Software
A print server is software running on a Novell file server which
monitors print jobs kept in queues and submits the jobs to the
appropriate network printer. Your controller’s software emulates the
print server function on a Novell file server and prints jobs from the
queues on your Accel-a-Graphix CT4 controller.
XANTÉ’s print server monitors the print queue(s) on the file server
and prints jobs as they are submitted.
Because the print server software acts as a Novell client, your system
administrator must set the names of target file servers, the username,
and the password on the print server side before using the software.
The username and password are set respectively using the
setpsloginname and setpspassword operators in the XanteProcs
ProcSet. Your administrator can show you how to set the password.
The target file server names are set using the addnsname operator
from XanteProcs ProcSet. A list of target file servers is maintained in
non-volatile memory in the controller. If this list contains no entries,
the controller will turn the interface off. After entering file server
names in this list, your system administrator must turn on Novell
print service through the controller’s front panel.
