neutral position, which means the engine is at rest. The
solenoid (

Normal operations
During normal engine operation the solenoid (
9
) is not
activated. The solenoid is in the control position and
forces oil through the orifice (

) to the rocker arm at
the same time as oil is able to flow through the cali-
bration orifice (
14
) and on to the return orifice (
13
). This
reduces oil pressure to 1 bar (100 kPa) [14.5 PSI]
which is sufficient for lubricating the camshaft bearings
and valve mechanism.
