P0006030

/: The oil pressure lifts the pump piston (

) to the

upper position and occupies the space beneath the
piston. When oil has completely filled the system and
oil flow ceases, the check valve (

) closes. When the

EGR rocker arm (

) then rolls over the lobe,

the pump piston is forced down and the oil beneath
the piston is forced on to the power piston (

). The

piston is pushed down and the exhaust valves open.
The check valve (

) is held closed by the high oil

pressure during the time the exhaust valves are open.

/: After the exhaust valves have closed and the EGR

rocker arm no longer depresses the pump piston, the
oil that forced the power piston (

) down flows back

to the pump piston (

The system is replenished by the check valve (

)

opening and allowing a quantity of oil to pass corre-
sponding to the quantity leaked off during the previous
cycle.
