Special Option Cards
Four option cards are available, all of which occupy the Special Option slot on the rear panel. For RevD
and Compact multiplexers, the installation procedure is simply to remove the Special Option blanking
plate and plug the chosen interface into the slot, replacing the screws afterwards.
For RevC units, all interfaces plug into the same carrier card, the TDM Framer Card (VI68713). The card
assembly is plugged into mating connectors on the V100 motherboard and the interface card occupies the
Special Option slot on the rear panel. In all cases, the same installation procedure should be followed. To
install it, first remove the lid, then remove the Special Options blanking plate by unscrewing the two M3
retaining screws. Next remove the M3 screw, shakeproof washer and plastic clip next to J6 on the
motherboard and also the M3 screw and shakeproof washer next to JP15. The clip will not be required.
Replace these screws with the 2off type2 10mm mounting pillars supplied in the fitting kit. If not already
prepared, connect the TDM card and the interface card together using the mating 16x2-way connectors.
Position the assembly above JP13, JP14 and JP15. To do this, the blanking plate attached to the Interface
Card must first be carefully positioned flush with the rear panel of the main unit. JP15 (34-way) on the
motherboard mates with the 34-way header at the end of the TDM card; only 3 pins (a14-a16) of JP13 on
the motherboard mate with the 3-pin header underneath the TDM card; JP14 on the motherboard mates
with the pass-through connector JP6 on the TDM card. Align all three connectors carefully before gently
plugging them together. Use the two M3 screws and shakeproof washers previously removed to fix the
TDM assembly to the new mounting pillars. Complete the installation by fixing the new Interface Card
blanking plate to the rear panel of the unit using the two original retaining screws. Replace the lid and
screws.
The TDM Framer Card is fitted with a number of jumper links, which configure the hardware according to
the application. Most of these are permanently soldered wire links, but there are two adjustable jumpers
JP4 and JP10.
