Once all parameters have been defined, click “Download”. The next window asks for the filename of the
new code, usually “V100.abs” unless the “Auto file selection” box has been checked. Select this (double-
click or select it and choose Open) and the file will be transferred to the V100 with a progress bar for
information. When the download is complete, the unit will automatically restart with the new code. Upon
completion, click OK to close the Flash program. If, during download, there are a large number of retries
reported, try restarting the download with Windowing turned off.
NOTE: Ensure that when choosing a file to download, you select the correct Revision of the
multiplexer, i.e. make sure you download Rev D software to a Rev D chassis. If, say, Rev D
software is inadvertently download to a Rev C chassis, the unit will be unusable and will need
to be returned to Vocality International Ltd for reprogramming.
With the latest version of the Flash Loader program, there is a newly supported option. This allows the
download of new software to Quad Data cards and E1 Digital Cards housed in the option slot(s) of the
multiplexer. To do this, the relevant option slot must be checked, and the correct card chosen from the
drop down menu in the Target Options area of the Flash Loader.
Please note that for Quad Data cards to be upgraded in this way, there is a special hardware modification
that is required on the Quad card itself. In addition, the main board software of the box must be at least
Release 2.1.22C3 and the Quad card software must be at least Version 1.01. If any of these conditions
are not met, the Quad card will need to be returned to Vocality for upgrade.
To upgrade the E1 card there are no such limitations, provided the main board is on a software version
that already supports the E1 Digital Card.
If at any time during the transfer process, an error is encountered or there is a power failure or
disconnection, the original software should still be valid and operation may continue as before. The
download may be recommenced. However, connection and power must be continuously maintained
during the “Burn” phase of the update as failure to do so may result in software corruption which will
require the unit to be sent back to Vocality for re-programming.
Unit configurations are maintained during FLASH reprogramming.
