V100 Versatile Multiplexer Technical Manual Version 2.2
Page 79 of 231
NOTE: It is not necessary to use the ROUTING menu for simple point-to-point or ring topology
networks. The complex example above requires the user to specify particular routes other than those
that the V100 will automatically work out. The V100 uses a technique called implicit routing to
automatically establish the most direct aggregate route to adjacent nodes. Any configured routes are
overlaid on top of the implicit routes; any duplicate implicit routes are replaced. In this way, by starting
with implicit routes, the entries required to set up even a complex network are minimised and the routing
tables are kept as simple as possible.
Field Options Description
NAME
Text Field
Provides an identifying name for the route
NODE
0-255 numeric
Identity of node to which traffic will be routed
0, 1, 2
Identifies the slot within the specified node which
traffic will be routed to.
SLOT
ANY
Any of the available slots on the target NODE.
0-31
Identifies the channel within the specified SLOT on
the specified NODE which traffic will be routed to. If
specified then the SLOT must contain a specific slot
number.
CHAN
ANY
Any of the available channels on the target SLOT on
the target NODE.
Dev: Chan
Identify the aggregate to use to route traffic to the
target NODE:SLOT:CHAN
E1
Use the E1 link card
-
No aggregate configured
ISDN
Route via the ISDN card in Option slot. The number
to dial across the ISDN network is specified in the
CONNECT USING field. If two separate routes use the
same dialled number, then the terms ISDN1 and
ISDN2 can be used here to differentiate the separate
routes across the ISDN network
HSC
Route via the HSC port
AGG
IP
Route using an IP aggregate. The CONNECT USING
field specifies the name of the IP aggregate to use.
CONNECT USING
Text
Only used for routes using ISDN or IP aggregates.
For ISDN aggregates this is the number to dial across
the ISDN network for this route. For an IP aggregate
route this is the name of the IP aggregate to use –
this must match the name of a configured IP
aggregate.
ALTERNATE
Text
Only used for ISDN aggregates. This is an alternative
number to dial across the ISDN network if the dial
attempt to the number specified in the CONNECT
USING field fails.
NONE
SEC is the secondary routing mode to use. Secondary
routing is used to describe the rules for using a
secondary path between two V100s. When a
secondary path is available, secondary routing is
configured by selecting a value other than NONE.
Other secondary routing configurable options appear
at this time.
SEC
BACKUP
BACKUP mode allows you to specify which aggregate
to use for reaching the specified Node/Slot/Channel if
the primary aggregate fails.
