Assembly of the wheel
sensor
Select a part that stands out sufficiently high, minimum 12 mm. Behind
this point there must be a space where the speed sensor would not
pick up any metal for it to transmit a pulse.

Weld a strip or bolt head to the flange nuts of the drive axle in order
to obtain a linking distance.

Mount the sensor, on the opposite side of the switching point, in
line with the driving direction of the turning part, such as
•
the bolts on the stub axle or
•
a place for a clamping bracket on the round part of the wheel
axle.
Select a point that is as high as possible, in the lee of the axle. This
will ensure that the sensor will not get in touch with high crops.
Ensure that the clamping bracket is well supported by at least two
bolts so that the sensor would not vibrate or move away from the
wheel ring.
If there is no suitable bolt or clamp connection:

Drill the centre points in the wheel or stub axle.

Tap screw thread into the drilled holes.

A non-elastic brace could be made from the strip provided, onto
which the sensor can be mounted.

Adjust the sensor as described in

section »Setting the wheel sensor« on page 54.

Feed the cable to the tractor ECU.

Fit the wires in the tractor ECU as described in

the tractor ECU user's manual.
Ensure that:
•
The cable runs away so that the operating system cannot stand on
it and cannot trip on the cable,
•
the cable gland must not be sharp,
•
the cable material can be tied together with cable ties,
•
the cable must not be attached to moving or hot parts,
•
the cable of the wheel sensor must never be tensed with full wheel
extension.
