3.2 Endoscope
Processing Support
See Figure 3-4.
The endoscope processing support is designed to minimize the
number of connections required to flow the endoscope channels.
The support can process one or two endoscopes, and their compatible
accessories.
IMPORTANT:
Each endoscope processing support is factory-
adjusted for the processor with which it was shipped. Interchanging
supports could impair the functions of the processor.
3.2.1 Control Handle Boots
The endoscope processing support includes two control handle
boots, labeled "A" and "B", for processing compatible flexible
endoscopes. Additionally, each control handle boot can be adapted
to process endoscopes that have special processing requirements
(e.g., small diameters and no light guide cables). A dedicated
chemical indicator clip on control handle boot "A" is designed to
firmly hold the STERIS chemical indicator validated for use with the
Reliance
™
EPS Endoscope Processing System in place during the
cycle.
3.2.2 Large Mesh Basket and
Accessory Basket
The large mesh basket on the upper level of the support can hold up
to two light guide cables and large compatible accessories. When
required, Flow Units can be connected to the two fluid flow ports in
the large mesh basket. Bite blocks can be placed on the two
accessory pegs. In front of the large mesh basket, three template
slots are provided for measuring the diameter of insertion tubes.
The small accessory basket and cover is stored under the large
mesh basket and is designed to hold small compatible accessories
such as air/water valves.
3.2.3 Valve Irrigators
The valve irrigators and caps have been designed to hold suction
valves during the cycle. Valves are held open inside the holder to
ensure disinfection solution contacts inside surfaces. Valve irrigators
are labeled "A" and "B" to correspond with each control handle boot.
3.2.4 Reliance CDS Chemical
Delivery System
The endoscope processing support includes a Reliance CDS
compatible with the Reliance dry chemistry container. The operator
inserts one new container in the Reliance CDS for each cycle. The
container is opened when pushed into the Reliance CDS. During the
cycle, water is flowed through the Reliance dry chemistry container
to mix and dissolve the chemicals inside and produce the solution
for the high level disinfection of the endoscopes and accessories
within the Reliance EPS.
