Operating the Converter
590+ Series DC Digital Converter
Control Philosophy
There are four ways to control the Converter using Remote and Local control:
Start/Stop and Speed Control
There are two forms of control in operation at any time:
Start/Stop
and
Speed Control
. Each can
be individually selected to be under either Local or Remote Control.

Local or Remote Start/Stop
decides how you will start and stop the Converter.
x
Local or Remote Speed Control
determines how you will control the motor speed.
In each case, Local and Remote control are offered by using the following:
Local:
The Operator Station
Remote:
Analog and digital inputs and outputs, System Port P3 or the Technology Option
Thus the Converter can operate in two modes:

Start/Stop is also known as “Sequencing”.
Speed Control is also known as “Reference Generation”.
