1. Start PIM-SM Protocol 

It’s easy to make basic configuration of the PIM-SM routing protocol in EDGECORE 

layer 3 switch, only need to turn on PIM multicast switch in Global Mode and turn on 

PIM-SM switch on relevant interface. 

Command Explanation 

Global Mode 

 

[no] ipv6 pim multicast-routing 

Enable PIM-SM Protocol on each interface 

(but below commands are required to really 

start PIM-SM protocol on the interface), and 

the NO operation of this command shuts 

PIM-SM Protocol on all interfaces. (Required)

 

And then turn on PIM-SM switch on the interface 

Command Explanation 

Port Configuration Mode 

 

[no] ipv6 pim sparse-mode 

[passive] 

Start PIM-SM Protocol of the interface. The 

NO operation of this command shuts the 

PIM-SM Protocol of this interface.
