The Galaxy NAS LX5 is a high-performance network storage device designed for a variety of Ethernet
LAN storage applications in the Audio, Video, Print Graphics, Medical Imagery, and Video Surveillance
markets. Because of the unique way the storage and OS interact, large file serving and streaming data
becomes the real strength of the Galaxy NAS LX5. Although difficult to project how successful it will be
with your specific usage, many customers are finding that the Galaxy NAS LX5 fits a storage
requirement that was recently being filled by expensive direct attached work station storage.
Special note about the LX5’s usable capacity:
The LX5 NAS has the ability to do replication, snapshots, and other Enterprise level features that
require storage space usage which deducts from the user’s usable storage space. As a result Rorke
will assign 25% of the LX5 NAS’s formatted capacity to these features, resulting in the users being able
to use only 75% of the formatted capacity.
