Section 2 Basic Setup
Be aware that a combined capacity of 120TB [ dual processor and 24GB of RAM required] is the
maximum you can use with the standard licensing that comes with the Galaxy NAS LX5.
A total size of a logical volume is 50TB based on dual processor and 24GB ram, 25TB based per
logical volume for single processor and 12GB ram. The total capacity can be sectioned into any of the
various logical and system volumes that include: Logical Volume, Swap Volume, Snapshot Volume,
Replication Volume or ISCSI Volume. Usually you should allocate a minimum of 10% of the Logical
Volume for “snapshots”.
2.3.6 Preparing NAS Shares Figure 2.10-2.11
Note your Galaxy NAS LX5 has been preconfigured and has had a guest account share created
for each of the logical volumes with the name ‘galaxynas1’ in lv00, ‘galaxynas2’ in lv01, etc. If your
needs are simple and you can allow all users access all of the Galaxy NAS LX5 storage then no further
action is required. However if you want to create shares with users and groups access options then
follow the following procedure.
See figure 2.10 Select “Configuration” followed by “NAS Settings” . This is where you select the type
of authentication. The default is set for internal LDAP, however click the type for your network. The
default name is ’WORKGROUP’ which has to correspond with the workgroup name of the client PC.
