Behälter für Waschanlage (A)
Der transparente Flüssigkeitsbehälter befindet
sich rechts im Motorraum vor dem Aus-
gleichsbehälter des Kühlsystems und faßt et-
wa 7,5 Liter Waschflüssigkeit. Bei einer Rest-
menge von ca. 1 Liter erscheint in den Anzei-
gefeldern des Informationssystems eine Stö-
rungsanzeige . Zum Einfüllen der Waschflüs-
sigkeit kann die Verlängerung aus dem Ein-
füllstutzen herausgezogen werden.
Es ist von Vorteil, wenn Sie dem Wasser, je
nach Jahreszeit, den Porsche-Winterreiniger
oder den Reiniger für die Sommerzeit in dem
angegebenen Mischungsverhältnis beifügen.
Klares Wasser genügt im allgemeinen nicht,
um die Windschutzscheibe und Scheinwerfer
zu reinigen.
Das Waschwasser kann durch Herausdrehen
der Ablaßschraube an der Unterseite des Be-
hälters abgelassen werden.
Kühlsystem (B)
Das Kühlsystem ist werkseitig mit einer Mi-
schung aus kalkarmem Wasser und Kühlmit-
telzusatz versehen und leistet der Kühl- und
Heizanlage Frostschutz bis -30° C sowie den
notwendigen Korrosionsschutz. Höhere Frost-
schutzwerte siehe Mischungstabelle im Kapi-
tel „Füllmengen.
Kühlmittel nachfüllen
Im Ausgleichsbehälter muß immer Kühlmittel
vorhanden sein!
Zur Kontrolle des Kühlmittelstands braucht
der Verschluß des Ausgleichsbehälters nicht
abgenommen zu werden, da der Behälter
durchscheinend ist.
Das Niveau des Kühlmittels sollte kalt
(ca. 20° C) bis zur Trennfuge des Behäl-
ters reichen. Bei warmem Motor entspre-
chend darüber.
Überschüssiges Kühlmittel entweicht bei zu-
nehmender Erwärmung des Motors durch das
Überdruckventil im Verschlußdeckel.
ACHTUNG! Verschlußdeckel möglichst
nicht bei heißem Motor öffnen. Verbrü-
hungsgefahr!
Das Öffnen des Verschlußdeckels erfolgt in 2
Stufen. Bei heißem Motor entweicht nach
Drehen des Verschlußdeckels bis zur ersten
Raste der Überdruck. Finger schützen! Da-
nach kann der Deckel zum Abnehmen weiter-
gedreht werden.
Damit der Schutz gegen Korrosion immer er-
halten bleibt und das Kühlsystem nicht ver-
kalkt, soll das Mischungsverhältnis des Kühl-
mittels auch in der warmen Jahreszeit nicht
durch Nachfüllen von reinem Wasser ver-
ändert werden.

Right-hand drive
Cooling system (B)
The cooling system capacity is approx. 16 li-
tres (3.5 Imp. galls.). The cooling fluid is a
mixture of approx. 8.8 litres (7.7 Imp. qts.)
softened water and approx. 7.2 litres (6.3 Imp.
qts.) of cooling fluid additive, and gives frost
protection down to - 30° C, as well as protec-
tion against corrosion. For greater frost pro-
tection, see the chapter "Filling capacities".
Topping up the coolant
There must always be some coolant in the
expansion tank.
Left-hand drive
Since the expansion tank is transparent, there
is no need to remove the cap to check the
coolant level.
When cold (approx. 20° C) the coolant
should be up to the level of the joint in the
expansion tank. When the engine is warm,
the coolant level should be above this line.
As engine temperature rises, excess coolant
is discharged through the pressure relief valve
in the tank cap.
WARNING: Do not remove the expansion
tank cap when the engine is hot, otherwise
you may be scalded.
To remove the cap proceed in two steps: If
the engine is hot, release excess pressure by
turning the cap to the first stop. Protect your
fingers! The cap can then be turned further to
remove it.
To guard against corrosion and prevent scale
forming in the cooling system, the mixture
strength of cooling fluid should not be altered,
so even in warm weather, never top up the
system with just water.
The system should only be topped up with
a mixture of soft water and cooling system
additive. For mixing ratios see the chapter
"Filling capacities". To avoid damaging the
engine, cold fluid should only be added to a
cold engine.
Note: There should seldom be need to top up
this sealed cooling system.
If the level drops considerably, the fault will
be indicated by a fault message in the infor-
mation-system display. Top up the coolant.
If there is a considerable fluid loss, it probably
means a leak in the system. In this case,
have the cooling system checked immediately
by an Official PORSCHE Centre.
