Setting the backlight mode
• Default setting: 1 (normal mode)
The backlight lighting patte r n can be selected f r om
among fou r modes, in conside r ation of convenience and
batte r y se r vice life.
1 Press and hold R.SETUP, then press “6” for three
seconds.
The LED flashes continuously.

2 Press the number button for the backlight mode
you want to set.
• “1” (normal mode) – The backlight is tu r ned on and
off with the light button. Afte r it lights, it tu r ns off
automatically if no ope r ation is pe r fo r med fo r 10
seconds.

“2” (frequent lighting mode)
– The backlight tu r ns
on when any button on the r emote cont r ol is p r essed.
It is tu r ned off with the light button. Afte r it lights, it
tu r ns off automatically if no ope r ation is pe r fo r med
fo r 10 seconds.
• “3” (eco mode) – The backlight is tu r ned on and off
with the light button. Afte r it lights, it tu r ns off
automatically if no ope r ation is pe r fo r med fo r 5
seconds.
• “4” (off mode) – The backlight does not tu r n on even
when the light button is p r essed.
If the LED lights fo r one second, the setting has been
successfully completed.
If the LED flashes th r ee, the setting has failed.
3 Press R.SETUP to exit the setup.
Multi operation and System off
The Multi ope r ation featu r e allows you to p r og r am a
se r ies of up to 5 commands fo r the components in you r
system.

pe r fo r m p r og r amming signals fo r othe r r emote
cont r ols befo r e multi ope r ation memo r y
p r og r amming (page 92).
The Multi ope r ation featu r e makes it easy to pe r fo r m the
following ope r ations by p r essing just two buttons.

function button to:
1. Switch this r eceive r on.
2. Switch this r eceive r ’s input to DVD.
3. T r ansmit a sequence of up to five p r og r ammed
commands.
Simila r to Multi ope r ations, System off allows you to use
two buttons to stop and switch off a se r ies of components
in you r system at the same time.

Only one System off
ope r ation sequence may be p r og r ammed.
P r ess MULTI OPERATION and then  SOURCE to:
1. T r ansmit a sequence of up to five p r og r ammed
commands.
2. Switch off all Pionee
r devices including the r eceive r
(except DVD r eco r de r s and VCRs).
Fo r g r eate r convenience, p r og r am this r eceive r to
pe r fo r m powe r on/off and playback ope r ations on non-
Pionee r devices as well.

The buttons that can be p r og r ammed using Multi
ope r ation o r System off a r e the same buttons as those
that can be p r og r ammed fo r othe r r emote cont r ols (see
Programming signals from other remote controls on
page 92).

1 • Befo r e Multi ope r ation and System off will wo r k co rr ectly, you must setup the r emote to wo r k with you r TV and othe r components (see
Setting
the remote to control other components
on page 92 fo r mo r e on this).
• Some units may take some time to powe r up, in which case multiple ope r ations may not be possible.
• Powe r on and off commands only wo r k with components that have a standby mode.
2 Some r emote cont r olle r s fo r othe r manufactu r e r s' devices use the same signals fo r switching the powe r on and off. In some cases, even if this
r eceive r is p r og r ammed to pe r fo r m these commands, powe r to the non-Pionee r devices may not be switched on and off co rr ectly. P r og r am
