• Place the cente r speake r above o r below the TV so
that the sound of the cente r channel is localized at
the TV sc r een. Also, make su r e the cente r speake r
does not c r oss the line fo r med by the leading edge of
the f r ont left and r ight speake r s.
• It is best to angle the speake r s towa r ds the listening
position. The angle depends on the size of the r oom.
Use less of an angle fo r bigge r r ooms.
• Su rr ound and su rr ound back speake r s should be
positioned 60 cm to 90 cm highe r than you r ea r s and
tilted slightly downwa r d. Make su r e the speake r s
don’t face each othe r . Fo r DVD-Audio, the speake r s
should be mo r e di r ectly behind the listene r than fo r
home theate r playback.
• T r y not to place the su rr ound speake r s fa r the r away
f r om the listening position than the f r ont and cente r
speake r s. Doing so can weaken the su rr ound sound
effect.
Connecting the speakers
Each speake r connection on the r eceive r comp r ises a
positive (+) and negative (–) te r minal. Make su r e to
match these up with the te r minals on the speake r s
themselves.
CAUTION
• These speake r te r minals ca rr y HAZARDOUS LIVE
voltage . To p r event the r isk of elect r ic shock when
connecting o r disconnecting the speake r cables,
disconnect the powe r co r d befo r e touching any
uninsulated pa r ts.
• Make su r e that all the ba r e speake r wi r e is twisted
togethe r and inse r ted fully into the speake r te r minal.
If any of the ba r e speake r wi r e touches the back panel
it may cause the powe r to cut off as a safety measu r e.
Bare wire connections
1 Twist exposed wire strands together. (fig. A)
2 Loosen terminal and insert exposed wire.

3 Tighten terminal. (fig. C)
Important
• Please r efe r to the manual that came with you r
speake r s fo r details on how to connect the othe r end
of the speake r cables to you r speake r s.
• Use an RCA cable to connect the subwoofe r . It is not
possible to connect using speake r cables.

• Make su r e that all speake r s a r e secu r ely installed.
This not only imp r oves sound quality, but also
r educes the r isk of damage o r inju r y r esulting f r om
speake r s being knocked ove r o r falling in the event of
exte r nal shocks such as ea r thquakes.
