YES is selected. Choose the PLUS setting if you want
the subwoofe r to output bass sound continuously o r
you want deepe r bass (the bass f r equencies that
would no r mally come out the f r ont and cente r
speake r s a r e also r outed to the subwoofe r ).

3 Select ‘X. OVER’ and set the crossover frequency.

Channel Level
Using the channel level settings, you can adjust the
ove
r all balance of you r speake r system, an impo r tant
facto r when setting up a home theate r system.
1 Select ‘Channel Level’ from the Manual SP Setup
menu.
The test tones will sta r t.
2 Adjust the level of each channel using

Use

to switch speake r s.
Adjust the level of each speake r as the test tone is
emitted.

3 When you’re finished, press RETURN.
You will r etu r n to the Manual SP Setup menu.
Tip
• You can change the channel levels by set the r emote
cont r ol to the r eceive r ope r ation mode, then p r ess

LEVEL
, and then using

on the r emote cont r ol.
Speaker Distance
Fo r good sound depth and sepa r ation f r om you r system,
you need to specify the distance of you r speake r s f r om
the listening position. The r eceive r can then add the
p r ope r delay needed fo r effective su rr ound sound.
1 Select ‘Speaker Distance’ from the Manual SP
Setup menu.
2 Adjust the distance of each speaker using
/
.
You can adjust the distance of each speake r in 0.01 m
Inc r ements.
3 When you’re finished, press RETURN.
You will r etu r n to the Manual SP Setup menu.
Tip
• Fo r best su rr ound sound, make su r e the su rr ound
back speake r s a r e the same distance f r om the
listening position.

1 • If you selected

on page 110) you can’t adjust the su rr ound back settings.
• If the su rr ound speake r s a r e set to
NO
, the su rr ound back speake r s will automatically be set to
NO
.
2 If you have a subwoofe r and like lots of bass, it may seem logical to select LARGE fo r you r f r ont speake r s and PLUS fo r the subwoofe r . This
may not, howeve r , yield the best bass r esults. Depending on the speake r placement of you r r oom you may actually expe r ience a dec r ease in
the amount of bass due low f r equency cancellations. In this case, t r y changing the position o r di r ection of speake r s. If you can’t get good
r esults, listen to the bass r esponse with it set to
PLUS
and
YES
o r the f r ont speake r s set to
LARGE
and
SMALL
alte r natively and let you r ea r s
judge which sounds best. If you’ r e having p r oblems, the easiest option is to r oute all the bass sounds to the subwoofe r by selecting
SMALL
fo r the f r ont speake r s.
3 • This setting decides the cutoff between bass sounds playing back f r om the speake r s selected as LARGE , o r the subwoofe r , and bass sounds
playing back f r om those selected as
SMALL
. It also decides whe r e the cutoff will be fo r bass sounds in the LFE channel.
• With Full Auto MCACC Setup o r Auto MCACC Setup (
ALL
o r
Speaker Setting
), the setting he r e will not apply and the c r ossove r f r equency
will be automatically set. C r ossove r f r equency is a f r equency aimed at achieving the optimal sound field taking into account the bass capacity
of all connected speake r s and human au r al cha r acte r istics.
• If you’ r e using THX speake r s, confi r m that the c r ossove r f r equency is set to
80Hz
.
4 If you a r e using a Sound P r essu r e Level (SPL) mete r , take the r eadings f r om you r main listening position and adjust the level of each speake r
to 75 dB SPL (C-weighting/slow r eading).
