14 Add pills to the scoop on the pan.
The AccuCount II counts the number of pills in the scoop by piece weight.
WARNING!
Always follow the above steps in order to ensure that the scale starts at 0 and
that the count is accurate.
15 Repeat steps 3 through 14 for each remaining check and weigh.
Press the Recal soft key, if you need to recalculate the drug’s piece weight (return to step 5);
or press the Back soft key to exit the application.
Accuracy of programmed piece weights
Over time, it is possible for a manufacturer to reformulate a product in a manner that
results in a significant change in programmed piece weight. A Pharmacist or
Pharmacy Technician should be alert for physical changes to pill size, shape, and color.
To ensure against a possible change in programmed piece weight that may cause a
counting error, the Pharmacist should employ the checking procedure in this section.
To ensure the accuracy of programmed piece weights
1 Retrieve a new stock bottle.
2 If you are in the Rx-Check application, scan the prescription NDC bar code.
3 Scan the stock bottle UPC bar code.
If the drug is not in the library, take the following actions:
a.
Press the Add soft key.
b.
Place the reference quantity on the scale (stock bottle amount).
c.
Press the soft key that corresponds to the number of pills that you counted;
or press the
Var soft key to enter a different number.
The scale calculates the programmed piece weight.
d.
On the Edit drug info screen, enter the drug information, and then press the Enter soft key.
