Chapter 5 – Maintenance

5.5 Updating the firmware

Parata periodically release updates to the firmware (internal software) of the
AccuCount II scale, to add functionality or fix erroneous behavior. You can update the
firmware in your scale by following the procedures in this section:

• Install the Universal Download tool.

• Prepare the scale.

• Install the new firmware on the scale.

5.5.1 Installing the Universal Download tool

You must use a special application, called the Universal Download tool, to update the
AccuCount II firmware.

To install the Universal Download tool

Insert the AccuCount II Upload/Download Utilities CD into the optical drive of the PC from
which you want to perform the update.

Navigate to the Universal Download tool folder on the CD and double-click the

UniversalDownload Installer.exe file to start the install process.
